Plans for the revival of the UK construction sector post Covid-19
The Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Covid-19 task force has published plans to secure the future of the nationwide construction business and set the industry on a sustainable path to recovery.
There are 3 phases to the CLC plan to be delivered over a 2 year period; restart, reset and reinvent.
Construction activity fell by 5.9% in March (Office of National Statistics) and the Construction Products Association estimates that construction output will fall by 25% this year.
It is anticipated that recovery from Covid-19 will be gradual and CLC says supporting this will require a single industry plan to reactivate the construction ecosystem.
The task force is currently discussing with Government to test how the proposals may be delivered.
